Pastoral Care Team

The churches in the Benefice and LEP are committed to pastoral care of members and the wider community, especially those facing illness, bereavement and other difficult experiences.

There are some church members who have been trained in listening, and some who are able to take communion to people in their homes/ hospital.

For any initial enquiries, please contact the Pastoral Care Team or the Church Office.

(Please note that this is not an emergency service, we welcome your voice messages or emails and will do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.)

What is the Pastoral Care Team?

The pastoral care team helps us be a caring congregation, embodying God’s love for all. We consist of lay pastoral assistants and clergy, working together to try to address the pastoral needs of our three church families and the broader community. We are trained volunteers authorised by the Vicar and PCC to provide pastoral care.

What is the role of the pastoral care team?

The pastoral care team is here to:

  • Be a listening ear
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Be a contact point for needs or concerns
  • Visit parishioners at home or in hospital or after a bereavement
  • Offer a prayerful ministry

Some examples:

A lay pastoral assistant could:

  • Visit you, or a family member, in hospital or at home on behalf of the church.
  • Listen discreetly with you in church after a service.
  • Signpost you to appropriate resources or other advisors for particular difficulties.

"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another." John 13: v34
